Two Kings and Mt Sugartop, South Georgia
16 x 20 inches, Oil on Canvas, 1998
The image is shown with sky cropped as in Greetings Cards. There is more sky on the original painting and no wavy lines (The scan is faulty).
A pair of king penguins parade at the waters edge of Cumberland East bay on South Georgia. Rising above the local cloud base is the Allardyce Range which forms the mountainous spine of the island. The most conspicuous peak is Mt Sugartop, at 2323 m (7620 feet). It was first climbed by a British Combined Services Expedition in January 1965.
